How to apply

Applications to the Textile Centre may be submitted at any time (open call). The residency is for monthly periods ranging from 1-3 months. Applications will be reviewed as soon as possible, or at the latest 3-5 weeks after your submission. We will let you know of the decision as soon as possible after that date.

To submit an application, please fill out the application form and also send the following to textilsetur(at)simnet.is.

• A CV or resumé
• Short project description/intentions for your stay
• Four work samples in jpeg, marked with artists name and title.
  

Textile residency in Blönduós housing, studio facilities and stipendium offers:

Housing and studio facilities

Artists are provided with living quarters of former dorm bedrooms, single person rooms.
Large studio bedroom/workspace.

Studios are in the building:

a. Weaving studio with looms 140 cm – 80 cm width.
b. Multi functional space with a 6 m textileprinting table with access to printing frames.
c. Multi functional space.

Residents will be equipped with a table-top, chair, shelf unit and lamp. Internet access is in all spaces. Shared kitchen and sitting room, communal laundry facilities.
Residents will have to cover the cost of travel, food, art materials and possible shipping of art back home.
All studios are with an exceptional views over the mouth of Blanda and to the sea, and the old town of Blönduós

€ 550 per month for a single room: one person, one bed, one studio space.
€ 700 per month for a double room: one person, one bed, private work space, private bathroom. (can also be equipped with double bed for couple).


For the application to be valid you need to complete this application and in addition send us via email a copy of your CV or resume, a short project description and visual artist should also send four work sample as jpeg, marked with name and title.
